Owensboro Police Department is investigating a death after a body was found in the Ohio River on Wednesday evening.
According to a release, officers from OPD, Owensboro Fire Department and AMR Emergency Medical Services responded to the Owensboro Riverport Authority, located at 1771 River Road, after employees observed what was believed to be a body in the Ohio River.
Officers, firefighters and first responders arrived at the scene around 6:25 p.m.
“Using an Owensboro Fire Department boat, officers and firefighters located and recovered a deceased adult in the river,” OPD said.
Detectives from OPD and the Daviess County Coroner’s Office are continuing to investigate the death.
